Olympic and world champion Neeraj Chopra has officially ended his decade-long partnership with JSW Sports and announced the launch of his own athlete management company, Vel Sports. The move marks a major shift as Chopra steps into entrepreneurship while continuing to compete at the highest level of international athletics.

JSW Sports first spotted Chopra’s potential in 2016 through its Sports Excellence Program. What followed was one of the most successful athlete-management journeys in Indian sports. With strong backing from JSW Sports, Chopra rose steadily on the global stage and became a symbol of consistency and excellence.

Chopra etched his name in history by becoming the first Indian to win an Olympic gold medal in track and field at the Tokyo 2020 Games. He added another milestone with a gold medal at the 2023 World Athletics Championships and later won silver at the Paris Olympics in 2024. Over the years, he also delivered several podium finishes across elite international competitions.

Unlike many athletes who move into business after retirement, Chopra has chosen to start early. His decision reflects a long-term vision to contribute beyond personal achievements. JSW Sports supported him through this transition and expressed pride in their shared journey.

Divyanshu Singh, CEO of JSW Sports, said working with Chopra was a rewarding experience and called his growth a reflection of shared values and commitment to excellence. Chopra, in turn, thanked JSW Sports for their belief and guidance, saying the partnership shaped his career in many ways.

Vel Sports will focus on representing and managing athletes, aiming to build a strong and professional sports ecosystem in India. For Chopra, this is the start of a new chapter, one that runs alongside his pursuit of sporting greatness.
