Man United Partners with HCL for New Digital Strategy

BANGALORE: Manchester United, the top-tier English Premier League club announced that they signed a deal with HCL technologies forming a pioneering partnership to reach out to their fan through digital media, reports TOI.

The elite football club interacts with over 100 million fans via different digital platforms. This new digital media strategy would focus on the expansion of the reach. "This partnership for us is strategic and hugely important part of the business. We are 659 million fans around the world. The passion that Manchester United fans have for our content is huge," said Richard Arnold, group managing director, Man Utd.

The club needs to set up a closer connection with the fans to enhance the prospects of drawing revenues from the games in stadiums, merchandise, and sponsorships. The better they engage with fans, the greater are the chances to explore targeted content opportunities globally.

The digital platform would offer content related to club and players according to HCL Technologies CEO, Anant Gupta. To address and connect its massive following of 659 million fans, the club needs to reach its fans through a digital scalable platform.

The boardroom will currently be used as an experience lab. "The boardroom is a symbolic part of our infrastructure that dates back to over a 100 years when the stadium was built. The fact that we are putting the lab here is reflective of how important we regard the digital connection with fans to be," said Arnold.
