Homegrown Indkal to Manufacture Acer-Branded Smartphones in India

Indkal Technologies, a homegrown tech firm, announced its entry into the smartphone market through a trademark licensing agreement with Taiwanese electronics giant Acer. Under this agreement, Indkal will design, manufacture, and distribute Acer-branded smartphones in India.
"Our customers will experience exceptionally well-designed smartphones with high-end processors, top-notch camera technology, and a host of premium features across the range", said Anand Dubey, CEO of Indkal Technologies, in a statement.
Indkal plans to launch a diverse range of smartphone models under the Acer brand by mid-2024, aiming to rapidly establish a strong market presence and capture significant market share. This venture marks the entry of a major computing brand into the Indian smartphone market, emphasizing the segment's substantial growth potential.
Jade Zhou, VP of Global Strategic Alliances at Acer Incorporated, expressed excitement about the partnership. "Indkal Technologies will further this mission in India by providing a wide range of smartphones under the Acer brand that expand end-user choices and enrich their experience in the Indian market", Zhou said.
Focusing on smartphones priced between Rs 15,000 to Rs 50,000, the new Acer-branded devices are set to intensify competition in the Indian market. These smartphones will be available through both e-commerce platforms and offline retail stores across the country.
This collaboration highlights the increasing opportunities within India's burgeoning smartphone market, promising consumers a broader array of choices with enhanced features and performance.
