Global Meet in Delhi Discusses Hydrogen Transport Business Models
The global hydrogen partnership meeting, hosted by India, has focused on crucial aspects of hydrogen technology, including transportation, production, and storage. International collaborations and partnerships in finance, policy, and regulations were discussed, aiming to propel advancements in the hydrogen sector. Delegates from various countries participating in the International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Economy (IPHE) provided updates on their respective nations' initiatives, including R&D efforts and policy developments related to hydrogen.
Country representatives highlighted their clean hydrogen strategies, R&D initiatives in production, storage, and transportation, as well as efforts to stimulate demand, develop infrastructure, and upskill the workforce. Discussions also revolved around regulatory frameworks, emission savings detection methods, and the establishment of dedicated hydrogen infrastructure and markets. Public awareness campaigns, ease of business, and cost-effective approaches were also key topics.
Participants emphasized the importance of broadening membership to ensure greater international participation, especially from countries in the Global South. Additionally, it was agreed that the European Commission would host the 42nd Steering Committee Meeting during the European Hydrogen Week in November.
The committee chair urged stakeholders to take bold measures to accelerate the deployment of green hydrogen across various sectors of the economy. The ongoing 41st Steering Committee Meeting of IPHE, which commenced on March 18, is set to conclude on March 22. The discussions and agreements reached during this meeting are expected to pave the way for collaborative efforts in advancing hydrogen technology globally, with a particular focus on promoting sustainable development and addressing climate change challenges.
