Gadkari: Budget Aims for India as Third-Largest Economy
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed confidence that the 2024 interim budget will enhance India's financial strength, boost exports, foster manufacturing, and generate employment. He believes that the budget, crafted by the Union Finance Minister, aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to elevate India to the position of the third-largest economy during his third term. Gadkari anticipates that the budget will contribute to the realization of these goals by fortifying the country's financial standing, promoting export growth, supporting the manufacturing sector, and creating new job opportunities.
In December of the previous year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged to elevate India to the third-largest global economy during his third consecutive term. Expressing confidence in the prioritization of infrastructure, he stated that increased budget allocations would bring all four sectors: railways, roads, airports, and power, to world-class standards. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister emphasized that the budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, is poised to accelerate national development, spur employment, and concurrently address the welfare of farmers and the underprivileged.
Today's interim budget caters to financial needs until a post-Lok Sabha polls government is formed. Following this, a comprehensive budget will be presented in July. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, with this budget, matches the record of former Prime Minister Morarji Desai, who presented five annual budgets and one interim budget from 1959 to 1964. In a welcome move for citizens, the central government, in the interim budget for 2024-25, as expected, refrained from adjusting or imposing additional tax burdens.
