Flipkart Aiming To Sell Unsold Mobiles Of October
BENGALURU: The online retailer Flipkart is up and running with its Big Billion Day Sale to boost up its market presence and also bring up the sales figures which will surely shoot towards the sky. Now flipkart is keen on selling one out of every four mobile phones sold in the country in the month of October, leaving offline retailers as well as rival online retailers behind by a margin, according to indiatimes.com.
The company’s brilliant app only strategy, to offer Big Billion Day discounts, seems to be paying off. The Flipkart app has climbed up the charts to become the No 2 app on Google's Play Store and topped the charts on iOS as well. It has clocked over 1.5 million app downloads in the last two days of its Big Billion Day Sale.
On an average 20-23 million phones are sold every month in the country. While Flipkart is the largest mobile phone marketplace, it may not be selling as much as a fifth of all the phones sold according to a study. But to bring up the sales, Flipkart has opened the mobile phones category and hopes to see better figures of sales during these Big Billion Day sales during which it offers large discounts to buyers.
Almost between 22-25 percent of all mobile phone sales happen online and Flipkart could be selling the largest chunk but other e-commerce companies are also doing well.
