Corporate Marriages: A Business Affair

In March 2010, Venugopal Dhoot’s nephew Surabh Dhoot tied the knot with Radhika Singhal, the daughter of Sanjay Singhal, chairman of Bhushan Power and Steel. The wedding was fully packed with known- busy figures in politics, sports, modeling and Bollywood.

A party was arranged prior the marriage ceremony at a bungalow on Amrita Shergill Marg. The wedding party was rich with the dazzling performances from Bipasha Basu, Malaika Arora Khan and Katrina Kaif (who was paid 50 lakhs for her performance). The King Khan, SRK was also there in the function.

Big business shots like Mukesh Ambani and Rahul Bajaj, politicians like Sant Singh Chatwat and Subbirami Reddy, Bollywood heroines Neha Dhupia, Neethu Chandra also joined the wedding party.

Cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin appeared at the wedding with his wife Sangeeta Bijlani and Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor with his wife Sridevi.

Some say the weddings as these as money-match-making. But Dhoot dismisses such talks, and says the alliances are pure coincidence. "Business has nothing to do with this. Marriages in top business houses are conducted the same way it is done in any other marriages, looking within your own community," he says.

Earlier in 2003, there was another spectacular ‘baraat’ in the Dhoot Family, when Aniruddh Dhoot married Pooja, the daughter of Arvind Poddar of Siyaram Silk Mills.
