Amazon India Signs MOU with SMOI, Partners HP Gas to Stretch its Platform

eCommerce giant Amazon India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Silk Mark Organization of India (SMOI). As a part of the MoU, Amazon would be introducing an exclusive Silk Mark Store with Silk Mark labeled products through multiple sellers related to the organization.

Rajit Ranjan Okhandiar, CEO, Central Silk Board says, "The exclusive Silk Mark Store on Amazon Karigar and Amazon India bazaar is in line with the Go Digital mandate of the government and will help over 4,200 Silk Mark authorized users spread across India reach millions of Amazon customers." He adds, "In addition to this, it will also help ensure access to 100 percent pure Silk Mark labeled products to millions of customers across the country."

With this collaboration, Amazon.in would have a major impact on the lives of numerous weavers and craftsmen associated with more than 4,200 Silk Mark authorized users across the country, says the organization.

Amazon India would further project the products that are more than 3,000 products that the customers would get access to Silk Mark assured genuine 100 percent pure silk products like sarees, salwar kameez sets, scarves, stoles, jackets, shirts, dress materials, ties, and more.

Pranav Bhasin, Head - MSME Empowerment and Seller Experience, Amazon India, says, "Artisans and weavers are a key part of our community and are in need of support to reach customers...The launch of Silk Mark labeled products through our association will enable thousands of weavers across India to sell online and reach millions of Amazon customers.”

Amazon’s statement reveals that the seller who is part of SMOI would be allowed to avail additional benefits through selling their products on the Amazon India market. The benefits include discounted referral fees, support with shipping and delivery of the products, imaging and marketing support, technical training, and business and sales support.

Amazon has also partnered with HP Gas to simplify the payments for gas cylinders. This partnership would give an option for customers to pay for their HP gas cylinder. As they could now avail Amazon Pay Tab on Amazon website or app, or book a cylinder and pay using any digital mode like credit cards, debit cards, net banking, or UPI.

Our partnership with Amazon to facilitate HP GAS booking and payment online is another step towards bettering customer experience and furthering the Digital India initiative."
