Reliance Jio Infocomm has crossed a historic milestone of 500 million subscribers, Chairman Akash Ambani announced at the company’s 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday.
Speaking about his personal journey, Akash Ambani said Jio has been central to his career. “Jio is where I began my professional journey, faced challenges, learned lessons, and found my purpose. To see Jio grow into an independent company is both humbling and exhilarating, because Jio is a part of me", he said.
He expressed gratitude to RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani for his vision and trust, promising to carry forward Jio’s mission with energy and commitment to India’s digital future.
Highlighting Jio’s massive reach, Akash noted that its 500 million customers represent more people than the combined population of the US, the UK, and France. “Very few companies in the world have the privilege of serving half a billion people”, he added, dedicating the achievement to everyone who supported Jio’s journey.
Looking ahead, Akash underlined that Jio’s next phase of growth will come from artificial intelligence (AI) and enterprise solutions. “India’s next digital leap, and Jio’s next growth engine, will come from businesses large and small. This is not just digitisation, it is democratisation of enterprise-grade technology”, he said.
He also pointed to Jio’s transformation into a deep-tech company with innovations such as its own 5G core, proprietary UBR broadband technology, and JioAirFiber, which is now connecting over a million homes each month.
AI integration across its platforms, Akash said Jio is laying the foundation for India to become the world’s first AI-native digital economy, driving growth and innovation for the future.
