5. Harley-Davidson

There won’t be a bike lover who is not aware of the name ‘Harley-Davidson’. Every biker has the desire to own a Harley-Davidson bike. If, can’t be own, at least a ride will do their dreams.

‘Harley-Davidson’ came into existence when 22 years old William S. Harley came up with a plan of assemble a small engine. He designed this engine in his own bicycle.

Harley along with his childhood friend, Arthur Davidson started working on the model and they took nearly two years to turn their dream into reality in 1903. Arthur’s brother, Walter Davidson and another friend, Henry Melk also assisted the Harley-Davidson duo.

Even though their first bike was not able to climb the hills, they learnt a lot from it and they took care of their future bikes.

The duo came up with their second bike in September 8, 1904. Their second bike took part in ‘Milwaukee Motorcycle Race’ at the State Fair Park. This model came fourth in the race and this flared the flame of Harley-Davidson’s history.

Harley-Davidson duo built their first factory in 1906 on Chestnut Street which is now, the headquarter of Harley-Davidson.
