6. Donald J. Tomnitz - D.R. Horton

Tomnitz is the CEO of D.R. Horton, the biggest homebuilder in America. D.R. Horton has an excellent track-record of selling almost 19,000 homes during the housing boom in America. Still, it could not escape the clutches of the housing crisis that hit America, owing a lot to the sub-prime crisis. Seeing the company plunge into losses, Tomnitz called for an investor conference in New York City in the year 2007. He was very candid and let everyone know that the housing industry was down in the dumps. As he put it - “I don’t want to be too sophisticated here” and sophisticated he wasn’t. He used unparliamentarily term while describing the dismal situation of housing sector in America. This angered the masses so much that they started an anti-Horton website.
