World's Top 8 Thriving Economies in 2014


BANGALORE: Will India overtake Japan to become the third largest economy in 2028? And when will China surpass the U.S. to be crowned the world leader, at least in economic terms? Well, 2028 is 14 years away and the current reality is somewhat different. A survey done by Markit to find the Purchasing Managers Index- an index designed to measure the performance of goods producing industries of various countries- finds France at the top slot. Ireland, the Czech Republic, and the United States follow closely. Here is the list of 8 top performing economies.

France: The PMI for France improved 3 points from 49.7 to 52.1 in March to register its highest performance since June 2011. The reason behind this surge is predicted to be the increase in client’s demands resulting in a huge number of new orders. But the output price did not see any hike due to competition. Increasing new orders resulted in back log. After two years of job shedding, the French manufacturing industry started hiring new people. Lowering of raw material price is one more encouraging factor. The amount of raw material purchased remained same after a two year period of contraction.
