BANGALORE: A Businessman is a person that thrives for success all his life. And when he gains it, the world recognizes them for their excellent work. The Fortune’s list of ‘Top People in Business’ for 2014 is out. And coming out of the blue, Ajaypal Singh Banga, the current president and CEO of MasterCard is the only Indian who has made it to the list.

He is ranked on the 28th position in the list and Google’s CEO Larry Page topped the list. Apple CEO Tim Cook featured second in the rankings, followed by Gilead CEO John Martin. The other Indian-origin person made it to the list is Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella at 38th position.

Banga’s life is full of achievements and accomplishments. Banga is graduated in Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Economics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University and MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. Prior to joining MasterCard, Banga spent 13 years at Citigroup from 1996 as part of the bank's senior management in the United States and Europe, Middle East, Africa regions before becoming chairman and CEO of Citi's international global consumer group in 2005.

According to Forbes,”Sometimes it's about being in the right place at the right time. For MasterCard, that very well could come in the form of Apple Pay, which may finally break the barrier between consumers and mobile payment. MasterCard and Banga could benefit from increased transactions using mobile phones,” reports NDTV Profit.

The basis of ranking was a figurative analysis predominantly on the basis of the financial results, profits and revenues, company’s stock performances and total shareholder returns over the same periods.
