Like a semiconductor’s conductivity that increases with temperature, Santa Clara-based Tripath Technology (NASDAQ: TRPH) is expanding business with a suite of products.

It provides audio amplifier solutions to manufacturers of professional, home, car and PC sound systems. Recently Tripath developed a category of digital audio power amplifiers using a unique technology—Digital Power Processing. DPP gives Tripath amplifiers superior performance and brings both high signal-fidelity and high power-efficiency.

China and Taiwan are the emerging markets for Tripath’s audio amplification products.

The company’s expertise lies in imbuing the electronic systems with faithfulness for sound reproduction. High fidelity is what Tripath’s proprietary technology helps achieve, thus maintaining the accuracy of reproduction of a sound quality from its input signal with minimum or no distortion. Tripath enables personal computers to have home theater quality sound systems. In home and car sound systems, Tripath enables systems with more power in smaller and lighter configurations.

It is interesting to note that Tripath is not only engaged in developing semiconductor products that provide the digital sound production to TV, CD and computer users but also energy-efficient products in high-speed networking, such as Digital Subscriber Line drivers that lower the power consumption of DSL line cards in central office equipment and thus help reduce power and heat consumption.

Tripath is developing integrated silicon solutions for the DSL market that allows more lines per card enabling minimum energy usage.

In the wireless market, Tripath is developing RF power amplifier solutions for cellular phones. Low noise and low distortion amplifiers can provide two advantages to cell phone users-extended talk time and battery life. Such technology is expected to boost the ability for next generation cell phones and wireless products to carry voice and high-speed data.

Tripath’s current customers include companies, such as Alcatel, Alpine, Hitachi, JVC, Sanyo, Sharp, Sony and Toshiba. Founded in 1995 by Adya S Tripathi, President and Chief Executive Officer, Tripath has sales offices around the world.
