SumTotal opens new facility in India

One of the world’s largest providers of talent, learning and business performance technology SumTotal Systems has opened a new facility in Hyderabad. The new center will handle R&D, sales, professional support technology service and international delivery for the Mountain View, California based company.
SumTotal Systems India Managing Director, Sudheer Koneru said, “The $2 million investment in this development center will give our operations the room to grow with what we believe is an increasing need for our enterprise-class product. India plays a pivotal role for SumTotal’s international growth.” The center will employ over 300 engineers.

Indian IT sector attracts $8.6 billion investment

It couldn’t get better than this. Global corporations have pledged investments of $8.6 billion in the Indian telecom and Information Technology sector in 2005-06. The major investment came from a consortium of people of Indian origin who have proposed an investment of $3 billion for silicon chip manufacturing facility near Hyderabad called SemIndia.
The second largest chunk of investment has been announced by largest software maker Microsoft, which has announced investment of $1.7 billion in the country on R&D, education, productivity and governance. Where as Intel has proposed to invest $3.1 billion in R&D, marketing, education and setting up a venture fund.
Networking major Cisco has announced an investment of 1.1 billion, while EMC and telecom giant Ericsson have committed $250 million each. While Nokia and Samsung have invested $200 million in the country on mobile handsets manufacturing facility. Nokia is manufacturing handsets in Chennai and Samsung in Gurgaon. Tessolve Services too will spend $200 million in India on an Assembly Test Mark Pact facility in the Fab City that will come in Hyderabad.
