There are 44 million Smartphones in the country, which means that only 4 percent of the country uses a Smartphone today. There remains tremendous room for growth in terms of sales and penetration in this domain.

On the banks of Godavari, in a city called Nashik, are two passionate and ambitious professionals Ashwin Kandoi and Abhijit Junagade who realized this niche in the market and founded the company Winjit Technologies, a leading provider of business mobility and software solutions. Ashwin, CEO & Co-Founder of Winjit Technologies is a Chartered Accountant from ICAI with enterprise experience from companies like ABB, while Abhijit, COO & Co-Founder, is an engineer with an MBA from Nirma Institute. With their combined knowledge and business acumen, Winjit intends to take over the mobile app sector in the near future.

The company began catering to the enterprises three years ago with their mobility apps and have already developed over 300 enterprise applications. Apart from mobile apps, Winjit Technologies also offers product engineering services, application development and consulting services, incubation centre, , and Oracle EBS enterprise mobility. "Nashik, the wine capital of the country is not only an attraction for wine lovers but also for IT professionals" says Abhijit. One of the key factors which sets Winjit apart is that despite being away from the IT capitals of the country, they are able to compete with the best in this domain as what they lack geographically is made up by a lower cost of living, cutting edge technology and salaries which are at par with bigger players who are headquartered in large cities. They are enterprise partners of Apple, BlackBerry and have major tie-ups with Microsoft, Samsung, Apple, and Nokia, yet, that is only one of the halves of the scheme of Ashwin and Abhijit's plan.

"In the consumer space we believe India would have 400 million Smartphones going forward to 2015-16 and we would like to reach at least 100 million Smartphones by that point of time. By then, we would have atleast 3000 apps which will cater to every consumer in some form or the other," says Ashwin. The self funded company which has a head count of 150 employees has clients like times music – one of the largest health and spiritual player in the country, Hungama and Sony music, as well as a few other players like Saregama. Their apps have hit a staggering 20 million downloads so far and continuously hits two million downloads every month, staying true to the place they are based in, which is also known to be the fastest growing city in the world. The company also caters to other verticals like finance and NGO’s.

Winjit is a technology company, lead by professionals with an eye to spot the hunger in the crowd. "Today the company has an R&D division which works towards finding new ways of satisfying old needs. The software making company from the city of grapes intends to be the leader in mobility apps and the day may be near when every Smartphone has an app made by Winjit Technologies.
