An engineering graduate with a Masters in business administration, Vineet Nayar joined HCL in 1985. Starting his career as a senior management trainee, Nayar held leadership positions in sales and strategic marketing and as the CEO of the infrastructure business. Now adding another feather to his hat, he has taken over as the CEO of HCL where he will be leading a team of 45,000 professionals in 18 countries.

In a time when professionals keep hopping from an organization to another, Nayar had made his mark in the IT industry very early in his career. His mantra of ‘Employee First’ and a strong belief in value based leadership have been recognized globally. Fortune Magazine has articulated his leadership style as ‘The World’s Most Modern Management’ and the London Business School calls him ‘the leader of organizational Innovation’. The Harvard Business School (HBS) has written a case study on the Transformation at HCL, based on his innovative and radical leadership. The case study is being taught in the Strategy and Leadership classes at HBS.

Ever since becoming a part of the leadership team, Nayar has initiated several radical programs that began a quiet transformation across the organization and today in his new role he is ready to drive HCL’s growth in the IT Services industry.
