Service industries are ruling enterprise industries with various solutions on different verticals. Enterprises are in need of latest technologies which many providers are not meeting the satisfactory line. This disappointed enterprises as service providers are under core areas towards infrastructure, operating system, database, application, workflow and Business Intelligence with CRM /SCM solutions. Dependency of whole process on service providers made difficult in acquiring entire business value chain to provide end to end business solutions. To avoid dependency and achieve quick ROI (Return of Investment) whole solution should be working within a technology governance framework with standards. Every service provider is complaint with some governance standards and CIOs should be able to drift between service providers for effective and latest technological solutions.

To be abreast with the changes in the industry, technology is stretching its wings in large market to assure its presence and development in market which is affecting service industry performance also. Social networking is a major expertise where present trends are focusing towards integrating face-to-face enterprise applications to drive the organizational dynamics. With increase in social networking security framework development also growing to interface with social networking and portability within the devices. For the need of huge information to various stakeholders Big Data stepping forward to achieve purification of information for enterprise and consumer space. There are many applications under development to clean the data in shortest possible time and to assist stakeholders for right decision on their business queries. Emerging technologies results in great benefit of industries but still it is producing road blocks to the CIO.

Trending technologies have increased its impact on organizations to change the system and skill the resource. It cause CIOs to be prepared with rolling strategic upgrade plan, review them and develop corrective measures along with the vendor partner’s product or service lifecycle management to reduce the technology obsolescence impact on the organization. Technology improvements are affecting information security, where corporate facing problem in ensuring data security across the business value chain in the digital world. Ensuring the robust security framework is essential while organizing the new technology initiatives and post deployment monitoring mechanism as security hacking reports are increasing. This can be achieved by creating a security framework which is flexible, adaptive and standardized for increasing business threats. Other thorny segment is interdependency of applications as majority of applications in the commercial world are standalone in nature and very efficient in delivering their core values. Integration of applications decreases the core performance of the application. To mitigate the above challenge, the CIO needs to create application integration benefit analysis and understand technology performance impact along with report rationalization and business intelligence framework.

Cloud architecture, portable devices, social media interfacing, and data collaboration are the joint technologies integrated which drive business benefits across organizational value chain. To mitigate the problem organization’s information technology road map needs to be integrated with business strategy to create the alertness. Changing technologies stretch employee role of upgrading their skills. To the requirement of improvements, technology framework should connect itself with the growth of skilled manpower and enforce to identify potential people whose skills can be sharpened and molded to the changing organizational environment to serve all the stakeholders needs. CIO plays a big role in identifying high potential people as a part of organizational governance framework, to constrain the changes inside the organization in present highly competitive business environment. Utilization of technology by the user groups is highly dependent on the extent to which the organizational excellence parameters are able to influence the end-user groups. These organizational excellence parameters create high potential technology influencers to promote technology as strategic differentiator in the business environment.
