As small and mid-sized enterprises' (SMEs) data storage requirements are set to witness a big jump, NetApp, a data storage solution provider, has launched a new storage solution, S550, for the SMEs.

The new product belongs to the S-Family solutions that include FAS2020 and FAS2050 that cater to the mid-sized and large firms respectively. The solution will be available in the market in the range of $8,000 to $10,000, depending on the configuration of the purchase.
The S550 scales to 12 terabytes due to a new chassis that allows for 750GB and 1TB drives, and offers support for server virtualization. It features integration with Microsoft applications via NetApp's SnapManager for SQL Server. The solution allows the customer to add storage without disrupting applications or users.
