Ravi Shelvankar, the newly appointed Vice President of Enterprise Applications Services, Trianz, describes himself as fun loving and competitive.

After completing his post graduation from BITS, Pilani, Shelvankar started his career with the TATA Group and later joined Infosys as a member of the marketing team where he worked for 10 years. He also considers this term at Infosys as the major turning point of his career as he got the opportunity of being with a large conglomerate and learn the corporate life. Shelvankar was awarded the ‘Best Business Development Manager’ along with quarterly awards for enabling the success of new clients at Infosys. Also in 2001, he was awarded the Infosys Chairman’s award for ‘Management Excellence’.

“Honesty, hardwork, being client focused, and the ability to connect with people are what have helped me succeed in my career,” says Shelvankar. He advises the young generation of ‘techies’ not to be shy and learn the ropes of networking technique early in the game because at the end of the day everything is about selling either to your management, project team, or client. They also need to have positive attitude which makes people want to associate and cooperate with them. Professionals with positive attitude are like magnets who take on bigger responsibilities in corporates.

A person who is very comfortable in social situations and conversations, Shelvankar loves to spend time with his family, and also in travel, playing cricket and tennis, and working with charities and non-profits.
