ZTE rolls out Android powered tablet PC


Beijing: Considering enormous potential in the growing tablet market, Chinese telecom equipment vendor ZTE has unveiled a touch screen tablet, ZTE Light. The new device is smaller than Apple's iPad, runs on Google Android 2.1 OS, and weighs 403 grams. The 3G ready gadget has 3 megapixel camera and memory card slot for the extension upto 32 GB. It offers GPS navigation, music and video player with Mp4 support, and WiFi. The tablet supports voice calling on dual band UMTS 2100 MHZ/900 MHZ and internet access on HSUPA network with a download speed of up to 7.2 Mbps and an upload speed of up to 5.76 Mbps. The ZTE Light will have 512 megabytes of RAM and 512 Mb ROM. The ZTE Light will feature business apps and support various Google services, multi-email account setup, desktop widget apps, and online document reading and editing. The device is also being marketed as a full entertainment system, which supports multimedia and games. As of now, the price and detailed specifications are not yet available.
