Tech Innovations That Will Change Your Smartphone Experience In 2014

2. MediaTek Octa Core

MediaTek launched what it claims as ‘true’ octa-core processor. Its ‘true’ tag seems justified as all eight cores in the processor are active simultaneously. In comparison, Samsung’s Exynos Octa which was launched last year had only four cores at work in a given time. These low-cost chips will help Indian brands sell relatively inexpensive smartphones that sport high-end specifications. Speculations are rife that octa core processors will become a more main stream in coming days.

3. Huawei 64-bit processor

After revolutionizing PCs, 64-bit processors are set to invade the Smartphone segment as well. Apple introduced its own 64-bit processor with the iPhone 5S and other makers aren’t willing to stay behind. Huawei announced yet-to-be named 64-bit chip that has a quad-core Cortex A-57 and quad-core Cortex A-53 processor. The two set of processors will work simultaneously to handle light and heavy usage. However, it will take some time for 64-bit compatible software and apps to be a main-stream thing. The good news is that it is expected to be baked-in to more Smartphones that are to be launched this year.
