Samsung announces Star II S5260

Bangalore: The second generation phone from Samsung's Star line of phones has been officially revealed and is called the Star II S5260. Starting February, the Samsung Star II S5260 will be available in Germany, followed by other European markets, CIS, South America, India and Middle East. The price of the phone is yet to be announced. Featuring a 3 inch WQVGA screen, the Star II S5260 sports a 3.2 MP camera. The phone has Samsung's TouchWiz UI version 3.0. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There is no 3G connectivity in the phone though. The Star II S5260 comes with enhanced social networking capacities as compared to its predecessor. It has integrated Facebook and Twitter apps. Plus there is the multi-IM 2.0 that gives you access to login into several IM accounts such as Yahoo, Google Talk, AIM, MSN and Facebook Chat, all through a single app. Samsung Star II S5260 also features the QuickType by t9 Trace keypad that allows for "a faster and easier way to input text than standard texting". How it works is, users can, instead of pressing keys, trace their finger over the letters of a word and the phone in turn determines the word that is intended to spell. The Samsung Star was a huge hit and sold nearly 30 million units. Following its success, Samsung has announced the Star II S5260 and expects it to mirror the success of its predecessor.
