Panasonic Toughpad A1 Tablet: Waterproof, Shockproof, Dustproof


Bangalore: Basically all gadgets are delicate and they need a basic amount of care from our side. It will be a big relief if you can be  careless with your devices. Well Panasonic has just answered all our prayers as they have announced their first Android based tablet which is designed for tough environmental conditions and rough handling. The company claims that the tablet can even be used in battlefields.

Panasonic displayed the Toughpad at the CommunicAsia Telecom Expo and Conference in Singapore. The Asian markets are the big demanders for rugged devices and the Panasonic Toughpad A1 is positioned to answer this demand.

This rugged device has an LCD display screen of 10.1-inch and the screen is designed in such a way that it allows the reader to read even under the sun! The device weighs just 970g (0.97 kgs) and comes with a battery life of nine hours. It is strong enough to endure being dropped from a height of 4 feet. To further prove their point of how tough the device is, the toughbook was displayed on top of sand at the Expo.

While describing the toughpad at the Panasonic booth at the Expo, Satoshi Mizobata, director at Panasonic's Toughbook Asia Pacific Group, said that it is a military type computer tablet, and it is water proof, dust proof as well as shock proof.

The production of this Toughpad will start later this year. This is the first Android based rugged tablet of the company; the previous toughpads from Panasonic used Windows as their operating systems.

The Southeast Asia general manager for Toughbook Asia Pacific Group, Amos Tio said that this gadget will be in the out  in September for the Southeast Asian market and will be available a month before in United States.

The main target audiences for this device according to the company are industries and areas like the defense, workers in Asia’s palm oil plantations, and utilities and construction sites.
