Packed Up With High End Features, Motorola Unveils the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus

BENGALURU: Continuing the purple patch run with its streak of innovation through the Moto G series, Motorola has launched another set of smartphones on 17th May. With minor differences in terms of specifications, the phone comes in two variants; the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus. Moto G4 Plus will be available exclusively on Amazon India starting right from the next day of its launch, while the G4 variant will only be available by next month. The company has not yet revealed the price of G4, whereas the G4 Plus will be rolled out in two price ranges depending on the available storage options. The 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage phone will be available at 14,999 whereas, the 2GB RAM + 16GB variant will make into the market at 13,499.

Powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 (MSM8952) SoC processor, the Moto G4 Plus is integrated with an Adreno 405 GPU and a 2GB/3GB RAM. It sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection having pixel density of 401ppi. The dual-SIM (Micro-SIM cards) smartphone is based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and features a fingerprint sensor on the home button.

Focusing on the camera, G4 Plus houses a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, laser autofocus, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), and a dual-LED color-balancing flash. It also bears a decent 5MP front-facing camera with an 84-degree wide field of view and f/2.2 aperture.

Backed up by a power packed 3000mAh battery delivering up to 24 hours of mixed usage battery life, the G4 Plus supports Micro-USB,4G LTE, Bluetooth v4.1, 3.5mm audio jack and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n. A Turbo Charger is also available offering 6 hours of charge in 15 minutes. Additionally, the phone includes proximity sensor, accelerometer and ambient light sensor.

The Moto G4 features similar specifications as the G4 Plus, but includes a 13MP rear camera instead of a 16MP offering, and excludes the laser autofocus. Considering the market competition it features a miserly 2GB RAM/ 16GB storage, while discarding the fingerprint sensor that is available in its higher version sibling. Both the smartphones support 3G on one SIM card slot and 4G on the other.
