Bangalore: Motorola has announced the launch of Android 2.1 run Defy for the Indian markets. Motorola Defy is available at a price of 18,500 in Black and White colors. The phone is meant for rugged use, as it is dustproof, water and scratch resistant, claims Motorola. Running on the Android Eclair OS, which we would say needs a upgradation soon, the Motorola Defy features a 3.7 inch display screen that is made of Gorilla Glass. It comes with Motorola's very own MOTOBLUR user interface with Live Widgets and Pinch to Zoom application. There are up to seven customizable home screens and dedicated keys for volume control, menu, search and others. The phone has a virtual QWERTY keyboard. The phone lets you click pictures with its 5MP camera that has features of digital zoom, LED Flash, auto focus and geo tagging. The image optimisation feature of the phone's camera lets you add real-time color effects. The Defy also lets you record videos at 30fps. The Motorola Defy is powered by an 800Mhz Texas Instruments OMAP 3610 processor. It ships with 512MB RAM and 2GB storage. The memory of the phone can be expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card. In terms of messaging, the device uses Motorola's predictive text technology iTap. The phone can be synced for corporate users' support as it comes with Exchange 2003 and 2007 with embedded POP3/IMAP, Google and Yahoo mail.
