Lenovo to bring U1 IdeaPad and LePad hybrid to India soon

Bangalore: Lenovo has decided to bring its Android/Windows powered U1 IdeaPad and LePad hybrid in India sometime this year. According to reports by AndroidOS.in, Lenovo India MD Amar Babu has confirmed that both these devices will be launched in India this year. Lenovo had first unveiled its UI IdeaPad in China a year ago, but it did not materialize. UI IdeaPad is a Windows laptop that can be detached and used as a separate Android tablet called LePad. The base laptop will be powered by a 1.2GHz Intel Core i5-540UM and will run Windows 7. Lenovo LePad is powered by Android 2.2 and features a 10.1-inch touch screen, front-facing camera for video chat, 3G, 1.3GHz Snapdragon, an optional i7 available and up to eight hours of battery life. No exact prices are available yet and thinkdigit.com reports that the device will be priced anywhere from $399 to $449 in China and would not cross $500 in other parts of the world. Reports suggest that LePad will hit the Chinese market by March and the company's India MD stated that it will be available for the Indian customers only after a critical volume is achieved in China.
