Intel's Atom processor E600 series launched in India

Bangalore: Intel has announced the launch of the Atom processor E600 series in India. This is the first System-on-Chip (SoC) Atom processor from Intel. The applications of the processor are wide ranged and comprise of home energy management systems, embedded handheld devices, multi functional printers, automotives and the like. The processor, earlier codenamed 'Tunnel Creek' integrates additional capabilities onto the chip and accelerates connectivity to the internet. The main benefit of the E600 series processor is that it gives high performance on optimum power, enabling the small form factor devices to be built on the chip. The total cost of the material is also reduced owing to the chip's compact design. The chip provides for customization with embedded applications. Some of the third party vendors like OKI Semiconductor, Realtek Semiconductor, STMicroelectronics are optimizing the chip for various embedded applications. The processor is available in the price range of $19-85 in quantities of 1,000.
