Intel unveils Sandy Bridge processors
Bangalore: Intel has launched a new range of processors, code named Sandy Bridge. The launched was preponed to Monday instead of the scheduled January 5 launch at the CES. The processors will power both desktop and mobile platforms. The Sandy Bridge brings the CPU, the graphics processor and the memory controller, all on the same platform - the silicon chip. With Intel's new processors, performance is enhanced between 10 to 50 percent compared to its predecessors, depending on the workload. The new batch of processors support DirectX 10.1 graphics. The microarchitecture processor comes with built-in DRM support. This will allow studios in Hollywood to directly stream high definition movies to computers that contain Sandy Bridge. The processor ensures the protection of the content.
