Google Unveils Pixel 9 Series with Advanced AI in India
Google has intensified its focus on the Indian market by unveiling its latest Pixel 9 series of smartphones, which come equipped with advanced AI features. Announced, the Pixel 9 devices are part of Google’s broader strategy to expand its footprint in the country, enhancing both accessibility and customer service.
In a significant move, Google introduced three Google-owned walk-in service centers in collaboration with Flipkart’s service division, aiming to boost after-sales support for Pixel users across India. Additionally, the tech giant announced an expansion of its retail presence, with Pixel products now available in over 150 retail outlets spread across 15 cities.
The new Pixel 9 series includes the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL, priced at Rs 79,999, Rs 1,09,999, and Rs 1,24,999, respectively. Pre-orders for these devices will commence on Wednesday, with availability starting from August 22. Alongside these models, Google also unveiled the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel Watch 3, and Pixel Buds Pro 2, which are expected to hit the market later this year.
The Pixel 9 series is powered by Google’s new Tensor G4 chip, offering robust performance with 12GB of RAM in the standard model and 16GB in the Pro variants. The devices boast an array of advanced features, including the latest innovations from Gemini AI and a top-tier camera system that Google claims is the best ever in a Pixel phone. The Pro models are available in two sizes: the 6.3-inch Pixel 9 Pro and the 6.8-inch Pixel 9 Pro XL, both featuring Google’s brightest Super Actua displays and a new 42 MP front camera designed to deliver sharper, brighter low-light photos.
The standard Pixel 9, also equipped with a 6.3-inch Actua display, offers a 35 percent brighter screen compared to its predecessor, the Pixel 8. It shares the same main and ultrawide cameras as the Pro models and now includes autofocus in the front camera for enhanced selfies. Additionally, the Pixel 9 offers approximately 20 percent longer battery life during active use, further enhancing its appeal.
All Pixel 9 models will receive seven years of OS, Pixel Drops, and security updates, ensuring longevity and continuous improvements. A standout feature, Gemini Live, is introduced on the Pro models, allowing users to engage in natural conversations with Gemini directly from their phones or Pixel Buds, providing assistance in a more intuitive and seamless manner.
With this launch, Google has also announced a price reduction for its earlier Pixel models in India, making them more accessible to a broader audience. This strategic push in the Indian market underscores Google’s commitment to expanding its presence and offering cutting-edge technology to consumers in the country.
