Dell's Amazing Device- 'Project Ophelia' Unveiled At CES
Bangalore: Dell Wyse, a manufacturer in the cloud computing segment, unveiled its latest product at the Consumer Electronic Show, ‘Project Ophelia’; named after a controversial female character, ‘Ophelia’ in Hamlet. The device which will release in the second half of the year, intends to bring computing to the masses by packing access in a thumb sized device.
Ophelia allows converting any TV or computer monitor into a full on computer with a simple plug-in. All it requires is a reliable internet connection. From web browsing and apps to key board and mouse, the device leverage the power of Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly bean. It is a portable, pocket USB stick which can be plugged into any monitor and then act as a full PC.
Tarkan Maner, Vice President and General Manager of Dell said that the company has its own IP for security between the Dell data centre and the device. The gadget is managed by Dell Wyse Cloud Client. This software service ensures correct permissions for Ophelia users to access files. He also adds that the device will go for beta testing in 20 different major Telecom services after CES.
The device seems to be cool and useful to business enterprises and professionals who travel every time. The device may also ease one’s idea of having a primary computer. However, the device can only be used with compatible monitors. Though security issues don’t persist, the question is that how consumers may use the free monitor without prior planning.
