Dell brings Venue & Venue Pro smartphones to India


Bangalore: Dell has announced the launch of its new line of smartphones, Venue and Venue Pro for the Indian markets. The Android laden Venue is priced at 29,990 while the Windows Phone 7 run Venue Pro costs 34,990. Dell has partnered with Aircel to release these phones. Exclusive offers for both prepaid and postpaid customers of Aircel have been announced on purchase of these phones. Aircel customers who buy any of these smartphones will avail benefits worth 6,000. This will include 1GB data per month for one year and 2190 minutes of local call talk time and 7300 SMS. Both the phones, Venue and Venue Pro come with Dell's proprietary UI called Dell Stage. The UI was demoed in the Consumer Electronics Show held last month in Las Vegas. Dell Venue is a touch screen bar phone with a 4.1 inch AMOLED display touchscreen with 800 X 480 pixel resolution. Venue runs on Android 2.2 and has an 8MP camera with features like autofocus, digital zoom, video and audio record. There is a dedicated key for the camera too. The phone ships with 1GB internal memory. A 16GB microSD card is included in the phone. The external memory can be expanded up to 32GB. Dell Venue is powered by a 1GHz QSD 8250 processor. It also has business features with support for ActiveSync and QuickOffice. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB and GPS. Among other features of the device include predictive texting, e-compass and virtual keyboard. The other phone, Venue Pro runs on the Windows Phone 7 operating system and is powered by a 1GHz processor. It is loaded with 1GB flash ROM and 512MB DDR RAM. A memory card of 16GB is included in the phone. Venue Pro comes with a 5MP camera with auto-focus and LED flash features. Its connectivity options include WLAN, Bluetooth, USB and a 3.5mm headset jack. Among its other features include G-sensor, e-compass, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor and FM radio. Dell entered the Indian mobile phone market first with its XCD28 and XCD35 handsets in November last year. Speaking at a press conference here, Mahesh Bhalla, Executive Director and General Manager, CSMB, Dell India said that the company will bring more products across platforms, thereby giving the consumers the choice to decide for themselves. The company has also launched its first tablet, the Dell Streak last year in India and is expecting to release the Dell Streak 7 soon. However, no specific release date has been announced for the same.
