Ultrabooks Getting Cheaper, Costing Only 30,000

Bangalore: The super costly ultrabooks are going to become an affordable product in the second half of 2012. These Intel defined premium laptops are sleek, speedy and has an elegant look, thanks to their aluminum chassis. Intel guarantees that by the third and fourth quarter of this year there will be cheaper ultrabook in the market costing around 30,000.

These cheap versions of ultrabooks will not have a whole aluminum chassis; instead there will be a plastic chassis with an aluminum coating. When the device is getting cheaper, you have to accept that the materials used in it will also be sub-standard. But the aluminum coating will still give you a premium look, so be happy with that.

Intel Taiwan’s country manager, Jason Chen, projected that these new cheaper models will hit store shelves around the third and fourth quarter of 2012. With these new models, Chen expects the Ultrabooks to account for 30 to 40 percent of global notebook shipments this year, reports Tech2.

Intel’s struggle in the market is going to get harder in the second half of 2012. The main reasons being the upcoming ARM based Window 8 notebooks with long battery life and the Ultrathin products from AMD. These not-so-premium ultrabooks are Intel’s hope to endure the upcoming market competition.
