Sony Rolls Out Android ICS Update for Two Devices


Bangalore: Sony announced the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system for its two devices. The Xperia Active smartphone and the Tablet P users can now check for ICS update in their devices. Sony announced this Android ICS update in its official blog, previously the company announced the OS update for three Xperia smartphones including Xperia Active.

Xperia Active is a dust and water resistant phone which got launched last year. It incorporates wet finger tracking which means that the phone works perfectly well when the screen or the user's fingers are wet and it can also swim in up to 1 meter water depth for good half an hour. The smartphone is powered with 1GHz Snapdragon processor, packs a 3 inch Reality display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine with 480x320 pixels screen resolution, a 5 MP camera with LED flash and 720p video recording, 320MB internal memory and microSD card slot. The Xperia Active is available for 19,800.

While for Tablet P the update will bring the combination of ICS features and also some new unique apps from Sony. The tablet has dual-screen which can be folded; the screens can also be used for two separate functions. It is powered by dual-core 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor, GeForce graphic processor, 1 GB of RAM and is currently running on Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS. It has 5.5 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with features like multi-touch input method and three-axis gyro sensor. It also has 5.0 MP rear camera, 0.3 MP front facing camera; featuring digital zoom, touch focus, image stabilization, geo-tagging, face and smile detection. The tablet also comes with a set of per-installed exclusive Sony apps, music and PlayStation archive games. This tablet is available in India for 36,990 for the 3G+Wi-Fi model.
