Sony Launches Vaio T-Series Ultrabooks


Bangalore: 2012 is indeed living up to its title of “The Year of the Ultrabooks”.  Close on the heels of Acer’ launch of S7 series of Windows 8 Ultrabooks, the Japanese giants, Sony unveiled their T Series Ultrabook today at a press event in Singapore.

The sleek, slim and ultra light Ultrabooks are available in two screen sizes; 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch. The devices are powered by Core i5 dual Ivy-Bridge-Class processor, 500 GB hybrid hard drive, Blu-ray drive and have a full HD 13.1-inch screen with a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels.  The configuration of the TSeries Ultrabooks is very similar to HP Envy4 Ultrabook. The Sony Ultrabooks are thinner and lighter than their counterparts of HP and Dell, with the measurements as 323 x 226 x 17.8mm and 1.6kg for the 13.3-inch version.

Aimed at the mobile professional, Sony strives to push it cutting edge technology into the development of Vaio Z laptops. Sony also unveiled their midrange Vaio S-series having the new Ivy Bridge components and entry-level Vaio E-series notebooks which has an updated AMD E2-1800 processor at this event.

To keep its customer base intact and to compete with its competitors Sony has introduced several exciting new features into their recent machines like the Web button to start surfing the Internet without even having to boot into the operating system, Gesture Control allowing to control certain tasks like changing the web page by swiping left of right with your hand and volume adjustment with rotating movements. It also has a feature which allows charging of USB device without switching on the laptop.

All the new Vaios are lined up to launch in Singapore and other parts of the Asia Pacific region later this month.
