Samsung Galaxy S7 Expected to Feature Iris Scanner & 3D Touch

BANGALORE: There is a little shock waiting for all the Samsung fans expecting the new Galaxy S7. Earlier this week Wall Street Journal reported that the Korean firm will unveil their flagship Galaxy S7 with a refreshed design but instead now reports suggest that they will feature the similar looks as the existing Galaxy S6 Smartphones. The strategy reminds us of the Apple’s traditional way of doing things, reports Tech2.

Much like Apple, Samsung is expected to deliver new features alongside the current features in the next flagship device. This new flagship phone is hinted to sport a retina scanner, pressure sensitive display, a USB Type-C port and better low-light camera.

Some reports from WSJ said Samsung is not clear about including a retina scanner yet. However, the rest expected new features are said to flaunt in the next flagship phone.

The retina scanners are only seen in two Android powered Smartphones such as Fujitsu Arrows’ NX F-04G and Viewsonic’s V55. On the other hand, Android made fingerprint reader a native function in the latest 6.0 Marshmallow. Although, including an iris scanner is not a bad move from Samsung, this new way of unlocking the Smartphone is definitely innovative than the existing fingerprint authentication.

Another attention grabbing entity in the upcoming Galaxy S7 is the pressure sensitive touch, which was noticed in new iPhone 6s. The Huawei made Mate S also features a similar pressure sensitive display but there are no apps on Android PlayStore that can take advantage of this new feature. In future, when Samsung brings in the trend of pressure sensitive displays, most of the app developers will start to include functions relating pressure sensitive display.

WSJ report also confirmed that Galaxy S7 will feature a USB Type-C port to charge which drastically improves charging time of the device in many folds. Another thing the firm promises is an improved camera quality to click low-light pictures.

Further-more, Samsung will launch Galaxy S7 into market lesser than last flagship Galaxy S6, which means the new Smartphone will hit the stores within 6 weeks after it is launched.

Rumors suggest that Galaxy S7 will be offered in 4 variants including Edge devices and it will be unveiled at MWC, Barcelona in first quarter 2016.
