Nokia Lumia To Be Cheaper In India: Senior VP

Bangalore: Nokia plans to lower the price of Windows –based Lumia Smartphones in India, Middle East and Africa. The company’s senior Vice President (India, Middle East and Africa - IMEA) SD Shivakumar said that the tweak in price was because Lumia phones have been selling more in wealthier markets, including China.

Shivakumar also added that for the past 16 months, the IMEA region had seen Lumia as a sub brand with Windows operating system and the success of Asha phones. Though Lumia is a big priority for the company, setting up its further growth in the IMEA regions was the need for now. Even if India is having higher mobile penetration, it is still not a big smart devices market like Saudi Arabia, South Africa or UAE he said.

In order to boost the sales, Shivakumar also said that Lumia would be the top priority device along with Asha to challenge the Smartphone segment. Asha Full Touch will be a huge bite among young consumers who would look for entertainment and social experience.

Nokia will also strategize on future disruptions just as they made their comeback with PureView 41 megapixel camera phone challenging other high tech camera Smartphones.
