Mobiistar X1 Notch

From Redmi to Realme, every mobile company is enticing the Indian mobile users with budget phones. Mobiistar, a Vietnamese smartphone brand followed the same suit by introducing mobile phones in Rs. 10,000 range last year. While it ended 2018 on a good note with C1 shine, the company has kick-started 2019 by introducing its first smartphone with a notched display - X1 Notch. Available in two memory variants in India with 2GB RAM &16GB storage variant priced at Rs. 8,499, and the 3GB RAM &32 GB storage variant at Rs. 9,499, Mobiistar X1 Notch is set to give headaches to its competitors. I am reviewing the former variant. After just reading its charming peculiarities on its box I have put my mobile on a side to check what it gives.

Upon opening the box, you’ll be welcomed by the handset. Underneath, you will see an envelope housing a couple of documentation and below that a 5V 1.5A wall charger, USB cable, & SIM ejector tool. As a cherry on top, you will also get a silicon cover, scratch guard, & earphone – thoughtful additions that you will rarely see with other brands.

Coming to the device itself, the Mobiistar X1 Notch measuring just 145.78 x 70.8 x 8.7mm, and having a 5.7-inch LCD display with a resolution of 720x1498 pixels is a go-to mobile for compact mobile lovers.  Moreover, its curved edges, thinner bezels & a notch, and 2.5D curved glass, glinting colours& loud shades on the backside can entice any customer who loves the rainbow. The device is available in Gradient Shine, Midnight Black,& Sapphire Blue colours.

3GB of RAM (that can be expanded via a microSD card) &Helio A22 processor running on Android 8.1 Oreo ensures that the phone works without a hitch. The phone comes pre-loaded with a bunch of apps that include Google’s app package, and Amazon, Gaana, NewsPoint, Bubble Bash & Asphalt Niro. These apps coupled with Mobiistar’s apps for changing themes & background and scanning barcodes are represented by pleasing buttons and you can get access to any app by just swiping left on the home screen. Backed by 3,020mAh battery, this dual VoLTE device is an adequate performer when it comes to handling the chores of everyday life.

When it comes to photography, X1 Notch comes in a 13MP + 13MP camera configuration with the front & back cameras optimized for landscape shooting and selfie shots respectively. What differentiates X1 Notch from others is that the cameras come with AI scene detection feature at the back and a 13MP camera with AI face detection feature on the front. Thanks to these features, X1 Notch’s cameras clicks decent images in optimum light conditions; even in cloudy weather you won't be disenchanted by its performance. Alas! As light conditions wane, so does the performance of its camera.

While the Mobiistar X1 Notch is a good choice for people who are looking for a premium-budget smartphone having a decent camera,& AI featured security with good design, but for people who want faster speed will have to continue their search.
