Microsoft Launches Lumia 550; a Budget Friendly Smartphone

BANGALORE:  The American Multinational technology company Microsoft has announced its Lumia 550 smartphone arrival to the market. The budget 4G smartphone from the company went on sale in selected markets in Europe and the company also stated that the gadget will be available to buy in the other markets very soon, reports IBN Live.

The smartphone The Microsoft Lumia 550 will be priced at $139 (approximately Rs 9300) and packs in the power of Windows 10 with 4G LTE bands, at an affordable price tag. It features new Microsoft Edge browser, revamped Outlook mail, One Drive, Microsoft Office, Cortana digital voice assistant, and Glance Screen, which lets users see notifications without fully unlocking the smartphone.

For specifications, the Lumia 550 features a 4.7-inch HD display (720x1280 pixels) resolution with a pixel density of 315ppi. It is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 SoC, Adreno 304 GPU and 1GB of RAM. It comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage which is further expandable via microSD card (up to 200GB).

Talking about the cameras, this affordable smartphone seems to fall a bit short of the competition with a 5 MP auto focus camera on the back and a 2 MP snapper up front. The smartphone packs in the usual connectivity options including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and also has a dual SIM set up. It also has a 2100 mAh battery which claims 15 hours of talktime.
