Meet Sirius: Nokia's First Tablet; Thinner Than iPad 4

Bangalore: Nokia is set to launch a 10.1-inch tablet backed by Windows RT Operating System. Sources close to the company revealed to The Verge that the tablet which goes by the name Sirius will likely launch in a special event at New York in September.

Earlier this month, pictures of the product’s prototype were leaked by a Chinese website. It is clear that Sirius will be designed with a serious choice of colors, from bright pink to blue-green. Also this tablet claims to be thinner and lighter than the iPad 4 and most likely to be in the same price range as the Apple Tablet.

According to the Verge, the tablet specification includes a 6 MP camera at its rear end and a 2MP front facing camera. The 10.1-inch screen will have a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The display screen has a bright output thanks to which, outdoor reading will be rendered at a far better comfort-zone. The tablet is said to have housed Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM and is developed with an aim to provide 10 hours of battery life with LTE connectivity. The tablet also has 32GB of external storage through a microSD port, a microSD USB port and a micro HDMI connector.

The Finnish manufacturer also has plans to ship keyboard accessory with Sirius and will unveil other optional accessories during the September launch. The company is also working on another Smartphone, code-named “Bandit”, 6-inch Windows phone which will be launched later this year.
