Huawei's Own Quad-core Superphone: Ascend D


Bangalore: Huawei released a new smartphone named ‘Ascend D’; this is a superphone which comes with an in-house developed quad-core processor- Huawei K3V2.  Like Apple’s iPhones the company has taken a big step forward by using its own application processor. This high-speed smartphone is going to make other Android device makers a run for their money.

The ‘Huawei K3V2’ is a quad core powerhouse that comes with a 16-core GPU and works like a 64-bit monster.  K3V2 uses 64-bit architecture and has a clock speed of about 1.2 to 1.5 GHz.  Along with performance Huawei has also put some effort to improve the battery life of the device by including some proprietary power management technology to improve the battery performance.

Ascend D comes in two models- Ascend D Quad and the Ascend D Quad XL. Both the models runs on Ice Cream Sandwich and has a 4.5-inch high-resolution screen, an 8-megapixel camera that can record movies at 1080p, a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera, 1GB RAM and 8 GB of memory. The difference between the two models are; Ascend D Quad comes with a 1800 mAh battery and the Ascend D Quad XL has a 2500 mAh and is a bit thicker than his brother.

Ascend D Quad family will reach Indian market by the second quarter of 2012, the company has not revealed the cost of these devices, but according to Richard Yu, chairman of Huawei Device, the phones will be 20 to 50 percent cheaper than competing products.
