Google Gives Glimpse of Virtual Reality Glasses


Bangalore: The highly rumored Google glass project has now become the reality with the launch of its official video teaser in the company’s official Google+ page. The video shows one day life of a person wearing the Google glass.

"We think technology should work for you -- be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don't," Babak Parviz, Steve Lee and Sebastian Thrun, members of the project team posted in Google+. "A group of us from Google X (Labs) started Project Glass to build this kind of technology; one that helps you explore and share your world."

The video teaser gives the glimpse of how the Google’s glass can be used. It is internet enabled, can be used for map directions, calendar reminder, updating status in Google+, send text message or Email, and even for video chatting.

While the company hasn’t disclosed the final designed eyewear, but along with the teaser video, the company has also posted some pictures of people wearing the glasses.

“We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input. So we took a few design photos to show what this technology could look like and created a video to demonstrate what it might enable you to do” described in the Google+ post.

The glass comes with stylish silver frames with tiny camera, on-lens display and built-in microphones for commanding the internet enabled glass by speaking. There is no other official information when the product will be available, as it is still in the testing stage.
