Archos Unveils Diamond 2 Note & Diamond 2 Plus Ahead of MWC 2016


BENGALURU: Anticipating stiff competition from other mobile phone makers, French consumer electronics company, Archos announced the launch of its latest offerings, the Diamond 2 Note and the Diamond 2 Plus, ahead of MWC 2016. Expected to hit retail stores May this year, the Diamond 2 Note has been priced $ 279 (approximately 19,200) while the Diamond 2 Plus will be available for $ 229 (approximately 15,700).

The Archos Diamond 2 Note is a 6-inch dual-sim phablet sporting QHD resolution with 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution. Powering it is a 2GHz 64-bit octa-core Mediatek X10 MT6795 processor, backed by 3GB RAM and PowerVR G6200 GPU. The Diamond 2 Note features internal storage of 32GB, expandable up to 128GB. The phablet comes with a 16MP rear camera with PDAF and an 8MP front camera. With dual LED flash to care of illumination, aperture of f/2.0 is provided for low light conditions. For managing connectivity the device features 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, IR Sensor, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS and microUSB. A 3610mAh Li-ion non removable battery powers all the machinery. Sensors on the phone include Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer, and Gyroscope.

The Diamond 2 Plus is a 5.5-inch phone with 1080p display. The screen has 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution with a 400ppi pixel density. Powered by a 64-bit octa-core Mediatek P10 MT6755 core CPU clocking at 2GHz, graphics are handled by a Mali-T860MP2 GPU clocked at 700MHz. Sporting a 20MP rear camera with a Sony sensor, laser focus, f/2.2 aperture and dual LED flash, for selfies 8MP is available. Other features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS and microUSB Type-C and a fingerprint sensor. All of this is powered by a non-removable 3000mAh Li-ion battery. The Diamond 2 Plus has an internal storage of 64GB expandable up to 128GB.

Both the phones run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
