Canon Revamps its Camera Line with Powerful EOS 80D DSLR


BENGALURU: Canon has revamped its portfolio with the new additions featuring the powerful EOS 80D DSLR camera and two new compact cameras called PowerShot G7X Mark II and the ultra-zoom PowerShot SX720 HS. The launch of these cameras is also accompanied by the introduction of a new lens coined as EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM.

Canon’s latest DSLR offering, EOS 80D improvises on its previous version EOS 70D by embedding a larger 24.2 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, powered by DIGIC 6 image processor and an all cross-type 45-point autofocus system. The latest version showcases an enhanced ISO range of 100-16000, which is again expandable upto 25600. The device offers Wi-Fi and NFC as connectivity options as well as an improved video recording capability with maximum resolution standing at 1080p. This powerful new camera will be out in stores around April and shall be priced at$1,199 body-only.

One of the latest additions to Canon’s PowerShot line is G7X Mark II, features a 1-inch, 20.1 megapixel CMOS sensor combined with the new DIGIC 7 image processor for enhanced low-light captures. The device also packs 40x optical zoom and 1080p video recording capabilities. Additionally, Wi-Fi and NFC connectivityis integrated on this compact and lightweight device. An interesting enhancement is the in-camera RAW conversion for previewing images without a PC. This particular product will be available in markets around May at a considerable price of $699.

The launch of G7X Mark II shall precede the launch of the next camera in the PowerShot line, called SX720 HS, scheduled to be introduced in the markets around June. This device is the most ideal camera for amateur photographers as it packs an unmatched 40x optical zoom, a 20.3 megapixel sensor, and solid video recording capabilities combined with DIGIC 6 image processor. Wi-Fi and NFC still remain as the sole connectivity options. Furthermore, Zoom Framing, Story Highlight, and Creative Shot are few of the defining features which make this camera a must-have. This camera comes at a very reasonable price of $379.

The new EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens, the first to offer a Nano USM focusing system helps users obtain an ultra-fast still image focusing, and smooth autofocus during video shooting. This lens will be made available in the stores, starting from April. Besides, Canon plans to add a new accessory called Power Zoom Adapter PZ-E1 for variable powered zoom with a compatible lens, scheduled to be made available sometime around second quarter of this year.
