Samsung announced its first Windows Phone 8 smartphone at IFA event in Berlin and it is also the world’s first smartphone to run Windows Phone 8 operating system.

The new Samsung Windows Phone 8 smartphone is dubbed as ‘ATIV S’ and comes with a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display which is reinforced with strong Gorilla Glass II protection. The device has a 1.5GHz Dual-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor along with 1GB of RAM. The phone will be made available in two variants - 16GB and 32GB.

Other notable features in this new Windows smartphone are; 8 megapixel rear camera, 1.9 megapixel front facing camera, microSD card slot to expand memory up to 32GB and it uses 2,300 mAh battery.  The smartphone weighs only 135 grams and comes with connectivity features like NFC and supports HSPA+ at 42 Mbps.

Samsung has not revealed the pricing and availability of this smartphone, but it is expect to hit the world market by this month.
