The first device to run the OS, Asha 501, the look alike of Lumia, was pretty hit with the Indian users, thanks to its faster experience and more responsiveness. The new OS allowed developers to create, publish and make more money from apps designed for the new range of Asha devices.

Nokia Asha 501 came with a 3-inch full touch-screen with 320×240-pixel resolution. The back panel held a 3.2 MP camera and the phone supported various Indian languages like Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil in its virtual keyboard. The Smartphone boasted number of pre installed apps like the Facebook, Twitter and the most popular IM WhatsApp too made its debut on the new OS. The phone packs 64 MB RAM and came with 128 MB internal storage and a 4GB microSD card. It supported the expansion up to 32GB.
