Karbonn S1 Titanium

Price: Rs. 9200 - Rs. 10500
The Good: The dual-SIM Karbonn S1 Titanium powered by quad-core processor offers an excellent performance as well as triumphs over other dual-core processor powered phones at this price range.

Bad: The dual-SIM phone is equipped with a below average camera of 5MP and offers poor viewing angles for an IPS panel screen. Besides, it has a disappointing battery life which lasts around 6 hours.

Design: Sporting a solid build, the sides have a very tacky brushed metal design. The Karbonn S1 Titanium is a plain looking phone with a rectangular slab design and rounded corners. The removable back cover is made of plastic and is extremely glossy. The device has a microUSB port, volume rocker, headphone jacks, power button and four capacitive touch buttons for navigation. Overall, the phone has a good build quality.

Processor and Operating System: The phone is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8625 quad-core processor with 1GB RAM onboard and Adreno 203 chip for processing graphics.

Screen: Karbonn S1 Titanium comes with a 4.5-inch qHD IPS screen with a resolution of 540*960 pixel and a pixel density of 240ppi which makes the text and graphics look sharp. The viewing angles and colors are poor for an IPS panel and the screen sensitivity isn’t that good either.

Battery Life: The device comes with a 1600mAh battery and according to the claims, it lasts to around 6 hours and 20 minutes, including usage of 3G, phone calls, Whatsapp chats, Twitter notifications and playing music.

Camera: The phone features a 5MP autofocus shooter that takes average images in daylight. The camera app is a bit different from the stock Android camera app and features the capability to simultaneously use the rear and the VGA front camera. It has options of adjusting the white balance, face detection, color effect and red-eye reduction.

Storage and connectivity: The dual-SIM phone supports tri-band GSM and single band 3G. Only one SIM is capable of 3G data while the other one 2G. Other connectivity features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB for charging and data storage. Storage wise, it has an internal storage of 4GB, which is expandable up to 32GB via microSD card.

Price and Availability: The phone is priced around Rs.10, 500 and considering the specifications it is profitable and a good deal.

Wrap-Up: The Karbonn S1 Titanium is a decent budget Smartphone but could be a bit of deal breaker in terms of poor quality screen and below average call quality. Other phones in this budget range include Micromax Canvas HD for a bigger screen and XOLO A1000.
