HTC Desire C

Price: Rs. 11500 - Rs. 15500
The Good: Well you are on a budget, so that shouldn’t stop you from having your very one smartphone and what if this smartphone is a HTC phone, all the better. That’s what HTC has in mind with this phone. The phone is one of the few budget smartphones that run on Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. It is also equipped with HTC Sense 4.0 UI.

The Bad: Well we can’t have everything right is what many people believe, that is the same with the budget smartphone from HTC. The processor is a letdown. The display is a small low resolution screen and the volume button in not a winner.

The Bottom Line: Basically Desire C is a budget smartphone from HTC with low specifications. So we would advise you to buy this if you really want a smartphone from HTC and you don’t want to shell out a lot of money. Along with that you should be also prepared to have few low specs.

Design: If you are looking for exceptional designs from the Desire C then you will have to rethink. The smartphone doesn’t give anything exceptional in the design department. It is the same black slab that encases in the normal rubberized plastic which is HTC’s signature. The front of the phone is covered by a single sheet of glass and has the new Beats Audio technology that is there in most of the phones produced by HTC. The rear camera is differentiated from the rest of the back panel by a red rim around it.

The phone also comes in two additional colours Polar White and Flamenco Red

Processor and Operating System

The HYC Desire C is powered by a 600MHz processor and backed by 512MB RAM. This is a big disappointment as the phone is extremely slow. Switching between applications and functions of the phone is slow. This low speed can become frustrating sometimes.
Though the processor is a disappointment, HTC has incorporated the smartphone with a Sense 4.0 interface. Here also the processor plays a spoil sport as HTC cannot install the full flat version because it would be a strain on the already slow processor.

If the reason behind powering the smartphone with a smaller processor was the budget pricing of the mobile then it doesn’t make sense as Sony Xperia U, at the same price offers a faster 1 GHz dual core processor and if rumors are to be believed Xperia U might get an upgrade to ICS soon.

Features and Performance:

Screen: Desire C has a 3.5-inch capacitive touch screen with a resolution on the slightly lower side with just 320 X 480 pixels. The screen is not very responsive to the touch and more often than not you will have to apply more pressure to get the icons to respond to your touch. HTC has also installed the HTC Sense UO v4.o, but it doesn’t function as good as it does on other HTC phones because of the low processor involved.

Camera: After the disappointment form the processor point-of-view surprisingly the camera doesn’t disappoint. The Desire C comes with a 5 mega pixel camera which clicks decent pictures. In spite of the slow start up of the apps on the phone the camera starts up quickly and the camera comes with features like face detection and smile capture, plus there's a range of effects to make your pictures funnier and interesting.

Storage and Connectivity: The phone has an internal memory of 4 GB storage, and a 512MB RAM. The smartphone has an additional slot for the microSD card which will allow you to expand the memory up to 32 GB

Price and Availability: Desire C comes with a budget price tag of Rs.14,500. Desire C is one of the few budget phones from major cell phone companies that run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

If you want to save more money on the budget phone, you can visit many online sites like Yebhi.com, Flipkart.com and Buytheprice.com are offering the phone at as low as Rs.13,995.

Wrap-Up: All in all HTC Desire c is a handy budget phone. A budget smartphone operating on Ice Cream Sandwich is a gift by itself along with a decent 5 mega pixel camera, but what disappoints is the low processor. The low processor is what makes other affordable smartphones beat the Desire C.

So if you really want an HTC smartphone and don’t want to spend a lot and are ready to bear with the slow processor then HTC Desire C is the phone for you.
