Nokia XL Dual SIM

Price: Rs. 10250 - Rs. 11600
While the Nokia X and X+ form the bottom tier of the Android-based smartphones from Nokia, the Nokia XL is bigger than the two. First up, it comes with a bigger 5-inch display, but has the same 800 x 480 pixel resolution, thereby resulting in a lower pixel density. Next, because of the bigger body, it also gets fitted with a bigger 2000mAh battery, that sounds like it should serve decent uptime to the Nokia XL’s modest hardware. The camera system is also a step-up from the X and X+; with a 5 megapixel autofocus sensor at the back coupled with an LED flash. There’s also a front-facing 2MP camera for video calling and selfies. Rest is the same as the X+.

The Nokia XL comes in the same colourful shells like the rest of the X series and the Lumia series, but doesn’t run Windows Phone inside. It’s Android; but not traditional Android like you know it. It is Android that’s void of all Google services; like Maps, Gmail, YouTube etc, that are replaced with Microsoft’s services. Its UI is also a cross between the Windows Phone’s Tile-based interface coupled with the Fastlane multi-tasking system found on the Asha 500 series. So what’s the benefit? Because of the Android base, Nokia says existing Android apps can be easily ported to the Nokia X software platform. There’s also the possibility of sideloading APK files directly. Nokia has their own app store to discover new apps for the Nokia XL.

A 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 chip with 768MB makes the phone work. There’s 4GB of internal storage (Lumia 520 has 8GB), along with a microSD card slot to expand it further. The Nokia XL is a Dual SIM phone with 3G support. It also comes with Nokia’s HERE maps with offline navigation, Nokia MixRadio streaming music service and one month of unlimited Skype-Out calls.
