Merchant received the ‘Sustained Wealth Creation (Large Companies)’ award by YES Bank. Merchant handles the financial duties of the biggest paint company of India and third largest paint company in Asia. Merchant handles many important financial aspects of the company. With sound knowledge of business, he has helped Asian Paints gain about 77 billion as turnover. He helped acquire 30 percent stake from Berger International (BIL) in Dutch Boy Philippines. He also oversaw the 50:50 joint-venture with PPG Industries, Inc. a US based paint provider.
